SUPPORTING ONSLOW’S BUSINESS COMMUNITY

Mineral Resources (MinRes) and the Onslow Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) have formed a new three-year partnership to boost capacity in delivering services to support the Onslow business community.

Funding will bolster the current efforts and existing services of the organisation, including continuing the Onslow Hub and redeveloping Onslow Connect – a directory of businesses and organisations servicing the town of Onslow.

OCCI Chief Executive Officer Chantelle King said the partnership with MinRes is an exciting opportunity to increase advocacy and service delivery for its member businesses and connect local businesses with industry.

“In recent years, the Chamber has grown from strength to strength, successfully delivering a number of new and innovative initiatives designed to maintain the efficacy and sustainability of local businesses,” Chantelle said.

“This partnership with MinRes will allow us to ensure Onslow businesses continue to remain competitive and thriving.”

OCCI President Jason Varcoe said the organisation relies on the generosity of its funding partners and the three-year MinRes partnership will contribute to the growth of Onslow businesses by supporting them to build industry connections and win local contracts.

“We see this initial partnership a starting point in what we hope to be a long-term relationship between MinRes, OCCI and the Onslow business community,” Jason said.

MinRes is committed to contracting local businesses in the regions where we operate and recognises the significant impact local chambers of commerce and industry have in creating connections.

MinRes Stakeholder Engagement Manager Daniel Barker said the OCCI was critical in connecting MinRes with local businesses in Onslow during the early stages of the Onslow Iron Project.

“We are keen to see the OCCI grow and develop new programs to increase representation across local Onslow businesses. MinRes is proud to have already contracted more than 26 local companies for projects in and around the region.

“We’re see value in being members of local chambers of commerce and industry where we operate and are committed to supporting these critical bodies wherever we can.”

The OCCI was founded in 2004 and aims to actively promote the interests of its members in the business community, providing a range of services to generate positive outcomes for commercial and professional organisations.
