Strategic Planning Workshop
Last week, the OCCI staff and Committee came together for a full‑day Strategic Planning Workshop to begin shaping our new Strategic Plan (2026–2030).
This workshop marks an important milestone for the Chamber. Feedback from our recent stakeholder survey highlighted the need for:
✅ clearer priorities and a stronger strategic focus
✅ increased visibility of advocacy outcomes
✅ increased support for local businesses, especially small operators
✅ strong governance and organisational development
✅ continued emphasis on local procurement, workforce readiness, housing, and essential service advocacy
Developing a refreshed 2026–2030 Strategic Plan ensures the Chamber remains future‑focused, accountable, transparent and aligned with what matters most to the Onslow business community.
We extend our sincere thanks to the OCCI Committee members who attended last week's workshop and contributed their time, experience and strategic insight. We also thank your organisations and businesses for supporting your involvement, your contribution strengthens the Chamber’s ability to represent and advocate for Onslow.

We were fortunate to be guided by Dr Shayne Silcox, a highly respected strategic leadership specialist with significant experience in organisational development, governance, strategy, public sector performance and business excellence. Dr Silcox has held CEO, senior management and Board roles across multiple sectors. His expertise in strategy, governance, performance measurement and organisational improvement is extremely welcomed as we shape our future direction.
A special thank you to the Shire of Ashburton for the generous use of the Council Chambers as our venue today. Having access to such a professional space supports regional organisations like ours to undertake meaningful planning and collaboration.
Over the coming months, we’ll refine the insights and priorities from today into a clear, measurable, community‑aligned Strategic Plan (2026–2030).
We will continue to share our progress and ensure members remain part of the journey.
Thank you to everyone who contributed feedback, your voice is shaping the future of OCCI.
