Building Skills and Confidence Through Local First Aid Training
The Onslow Chamber of Commerce & Industry (OCCI) is proud to reflect on the successful delivery of First Aid training courses delivered over the last few months, supporting local businesses and workers in the Hospitality & Tourism Industries build essential, life-saving skills.
These courses were delivered as part of the Tourism Workforce Development Program, made possible through the support of Tourism WA (TWA) and the Regional Chambers of Commerce and Industry WA (RCCIWA). Their investment in regional workforce development has enabled organisations like OCCI to bring practical, high-value training opportunities directly to our community.
Importantly, we were able to engage a local trainer, Katie Chapman from Total First Aid Solutions Onslow, ensuring participants received hands-on, relevant training delivered by someone who understands the unique needs of our community.
The courses were designed to be accessible and practical, with participants completing theory components before focusing on real-life application and skill development. Across the sessions, local businesses and employees strengthened their ability to respond confidently in emergency situations, skills that are invaluable not only in the workplace, but across the wider community.
These First Aid courses are just one example of OCCI’s commitment to supporting workforce development, building resilience, and delivering meaningful opportunities for our members and the broader Onslow community.
We extend our sincere thanks to RCCIWA and TWA for their continued support, and to all participants who took part in this important training initiative.
