We are excited to announce these upcoming workshops delivered by Peter & Violet Dhu from Corporate Communication Experts.

Peter Dhu is an experienced and acclaimed keynote speaker, trainer and coach in the area of presentation skills, public speaking and overcoming fear. For over 20 years Peter has helped thousands of people overcome their fear of public speaking and become more confident and effective in the delivery of their presentations. He has helped people find their voices and their passion so that they can now share these with the world with courage and conviction through their own presentations.

His style is inspirational and transformational. He uses his own story of adversity mixed with experiential learning, example and theory to create a rich learning environment. A medical scientist by profession, Peter has also studied extensively in the area of business and leadership, culminating in his Masters of Business and Administration and Diploma in Professional Coaching. Peter has extensive experience in the area of business communication, presentation skills and personal effectiveness.

Before starting his own consulting business he worked for the WA Health Department for 30 years in senior management positions. While there, Peter managed the Organ Donation Agency, one of the state wide health programs. He also represented the department and government on many state and national committees and working parties. High level business communication skills, including writing speeches for the Minister, negotiation and networking were essential in Peter’s success in these roles.

Violet Dhu has over 15 years’ experience in helping people develop their interpersonal and communication skills. As an experienced Social Worker, speaker, trainer, and graduate of the Harvard University Negotiation Institute, Violet has worked with many people who are dealing with difficult situations in their workplace and are struggling to be heard. These include difficult conversations, workplace conflict, anxiety, leadership challenges, speaking up, giving feedback, women in leadership and dealing with self-doubt.

Violet provides training and coaching and keynote speaking in the areas of assertive communication, interpersonal skills, difficult conversations, office etiquette, nonverbal communication and women in leadership. Violet has a special interest in empowering women to become great leaders and more assertive communicators.

Violet has helped thousands of people to speak up, communicate effectively, move into leadership and to participate in conversations confidently. She believes that everyone has a right to speak up and be heard.

Workshop 1: SPEAKING FOR PROFITS – HOW TO USE PUBLIC SPEAKING TO LEVERAGE AND GROW YOUR BUSINESS

Workshop 2: HOW TO HAVE DIFFICULT CONVERSATIONS – A WORKSHOP FOR MANAGERS, SUPERVISORS AND SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS

A manager’s ability to successfully conduct difficult conversations in the work place can make the difference between success and failure. Difficult conversations are a normal part of business, negotiations, communicating change and showing leadership. It might be saying no to an annual leave request at work; it could be dealing with inappropriate behaviour at work; it could be completing a performance plan; it could be ending a relationship; it could be giving negative feedback, or it may be needing to apologize on behalf of your team. Regardless of what the difficult conversation is about, most people prefer to walk away from it, delay it, do the work themselves or avoid the conversation completely. This workshop will give you the leadership tools and the awareness to be more comfortable, effective and successful in your workplace difficult conversations.

You will learn how to:

-Identify what the problem is by untangling intent from impact

-Move away from blame game "I am right you are wrong"

-Identify some of the assumptions that get in the way

-Maintain safety in the conversation for yourself and the other party

Workshop 3: THINKING AND SPEAKING OFF THE CUFF – HOW TO SPEAK CONFIDENTLY WITHOUT NOTICE

This workshop is designed to help you think and talk on your feet in situations that may arise unexpectedly, or without notice. The ability to think and speak on your feet is a tremendous asset to have in your social, business and daily life. Speaking off the cuff is often required for meetings, impromptu presentations, supervising staff, job interviews and when responding to questions from an audience. To successfully communicate your ideas in these situation you must be able to organise your thoughts quickly and present them in a clear and logical manner, that meets the audiences needs. Those who do speak well off the cuff are seen as credible, reliable and confident.
