If your inbox looks anything like mine, then you have been receiving plenty of resources on how to best manage the impacts of the global economic downturn associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. While it is too early to know exactly what the impacts will be for each of our members, the OCCI believes members are likely to feel the effects to varying extents. As such, we want to ensure that members are already thinking of ways to prepare their business for the COVID-19 economic downturn.
So far the best resource I have received and would encourage all local businesses to read is the one from CCIWA, which you can access via this link: https://covid19.cciwa.com/
The website includes advice on areas such as managing economic impacts, protecting staff, managing travel, business continuity, working from home, communicating with staff and FAQs. The content includes practical videos and written advice as well as templates and a range of other resources with the single aim of ensuring businesses are better prepared.
It is acknowledged that some regional areas in WA may not be directly impacted by COVID-19, however the situation is evolving every day and every business should be prepared for various scenarios ranging from business as usual to a prolonged downturn in business.
Be sure to stay up to date and informed with government announcements regarding COVID-19, which you can do so via this website: https://www.health.gov.au/news/health-alerts/novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-health-alert
Those Onslow based businesses remember we are a member of CCIWA which gives you free access to the CCIWA Employee Relations Advice Centre – please call them on (08) 9365 7660.
The State & Federal Governments have announced small support packages for small business.
Federal: https://www.smallbusiness.wa.gov.au/blog/coronavirus-stimulus-package-small-business
State: https://www.smallbusiness.wa.gov.au/blog/wa-coronavirus-relief-package
I also remind you all that OCCI are here to support you & your business, if you are feeling overwhelmed and not sure where to start to prepare your business then please let me know and we can organise a time to talk this through and give you access to the programs that can guide you through this.
If you would like to arrange an appointment with me but are not comfortable with a face to face, we have other avenues of communication to use such as a teleconference or a video conference all of which we can easily set up.
