BHP's C-Res Local Buying Program

As you may know the Local Buying Program (LBP) is delivered in a strategic partnership between BHP and C-Res – a cost neutral organisation. The program has been operating successfully in Queensland since 2012, in New South Wales since 2016, and in South Australia and Western Australia in the Pilbara from 2017.  Attached is more information regarding the buy Local Buying Program. The program has been highly successful in all regions with over $550m worth of spend from BHP going through the LBP directly to local suppliers since inception.   

 

The program has just been released in the Shires of Ashburton and Exmouth regions, to assist local businesses to engage competitively to supply goods and services to BHP Petroleum operations. The LBP will introduce an easier to use platform, ensuring higher visibility of local suppliers’ capacity and capability, continued sustainability of local employment and securing economic benefits locally.  This includes reduced payment terms for suppliers of 21 days (from receipt of invoice) – which is import for cash flow and security of operation.

 

Businesses who employ less than 20 full-time equivalent employees and have a significant physical presence near one of BHP Australia’s core participating assets are encouraged to register for the Program.
